The Raj Bhavan at Agartala is the official residence- Cum office of the Governor of Tripura. It is located at the New Capital Complex of Agartala City. It was relocated from old Raj Bhavan (Pushpabant Palace) to present Raj Bhavan in the year 2018. The Civil secretariat and Tripura Legislative Assembly and other governments offices are around the Raj Bhavan Complex. The Raj Bhavan covers a total area of about 8.96 acres of land.
The Raj Bhavan comprises the Governors Residence, Governor Office Chamber, ADC Chamber, Governor’s Secretariat, Durbar Hall, Dining room, Conference Room, Open Auditorium, Gardens, Fountains, Gallery Block, Library and Visitors Chamber , Medical Clinic and other offices. Residential Quarters for Rajbhavan staff are also available in the complex. Sprawling Gardens , flower gardens, medicinal plants, vegetable gardens including Big Fountains brought new charm.
Old Raj Bhavan
The Puspavant Palace Built by Maharaja Bir Birendra Kishore Manikya in 1917 used to be the official residence cum office of the Governor of Tripura. There are well-laid gardens and lawns within the palace compound of the Old Rajbhavan. It covers a total area of 1.76 hectares. It has lush green lawn. Rabindranath Tagore who visited Tripura no less than 7 times had composed 5 song during his stay at Pusphavant Palace.The Raj Bhavan Complex.
Main Building
The office chamber and residential block of the Hon’ble Governor, guest suites, office of the ADCC, PPSO, Administrative Block, Comptroller of Household, Guest Rooms, Library, the Banquet Hall Security Block and a conference hall are located in the main building. Several objects comprising photographs, paintings adorn the Raj Bhavan.
Durbar Hall
The Durbar Hall is situated in the Southern side of the main building where staff meetings and ceremonial parties are held from time to time. Swearing in ceremonies of the Governor, Chief Minister and Council of Ministers are held in the Durbar hall. Besides, Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura and State Chief Information Officer are also administered Oath at Durbar hall.
Library
The Raj Bhavan library consists of books in different languages such as English, Bengali, Hindi and Kokborok. The collection includes books on the Constitution, religion, philosophy, history, culture, literature etc.
Guest Rooms
There are 10 Guest/ suites where visiting dignitaries stay during their visits to the state.
Administrative Building
The Governor’s Secretariat is located on the northern side of the main building. The Secretariat functions under the administrative control of the Secretary to the Governor who assists Hon’ble Governor in discharging the duties and functions.
Gardens
The garden comprises lush green lawns, a cactus house and a kitchen garden. Various types of seasonal flowers and a large number of potted flower plants are also placed in the portico as well as in front of the main building. In the kitchen garden, varieties of seasonal vegetables are grown.
At Home
On the occasions of the Independence Day and the Republic Day, Hon’ble Governor of Tripura hosts AT HOME ceremonies at the Raj Bhavan. A brief cultural programme is staged on the occasion. Dignitaries such as the Chief Minister and his Cabinet Colleagues, Chief Justice, Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Judges of the High Court, Elected Members of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, Municipal Corporation, Panchayat Samities, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police , civil service officers, Para and Military officers, Chiefs of NGOs, social workers, sports personalities, etc. are invited to attend the programmes and participated high tea arranged there.
Medical Clinic
Medical Clinic housed in the main building the Medical Clinic is looked after by a Sr. Medical Officer who caters to the health needs of the Hon’ble Governor and his family. The staff of Raj Bhavan also avails medical facilities from this Medical Clinic .
